✨ Planning a photo session in the Tri-Valley?
I’ve put together some of my favorite go-to spots for beautiful, reliable photos. Each place has its own charm — from golden hills to cozy farms — along with a few tips to help you make the most of your shoot.
🌞 Golden Hills & Oak Trees
Best for: That warm, classic California look — think floral dresses, cozy blankets, and golden light.
Look: Rolling hills, tall grasses, and oak trees glowing at sunset.
Locations: Las Trampas (San Ramon/Alamo), Sycamore Grove Park (Livermore), Borges Ranch Open Space (Walnut Creek).
Notes: Trails can get a little dusty, so neutral shoes are a safe bet.
🌊 Water & Lakes
Best for: Clean, airy portraits with soft tones and pretty sky reflections.
Look: Sandy shores, reeds by the water, and wide-open skies.
Locations: Annabel Lake (San Ramon), Shadow Cliffs (Pleasanton), Del Valle Lake overlooks (Livermore).
Notes: Del Valle can be windy — a clip or brush for hair helps.
🌿 Gardens & Botanical
Best for: Soft, romantic sessions surrounded by greenery — perfect if you love color in your outfits.
Look: Blooming flowers, ponds, pretty paths, and lush plants everywhere.
Locations: Heather Farm Park (Walnut Creek), Crow Canyon Gardens (San Ramon), Ruth Bancroft Garden (Walnut Creek).
Notes: Some gardens need advance permission and may charge a fee.
🐴 Rustic Farms & Ranches
Best for: A cozy, country feel with boots, knits, and rustic textures.
Look: Barns, white fences, corrals, even vintage trucks for that old-time charm.
Locations: Forest Home Farms Historic Park (San Ramon), Borges Ranch (Walnut Creek), Alviso Adobe (Pleasanton).
🏙️ Urban & Editorial
Best for: Sleek, modern vibes — great for branding, date-night style, or a polished look.
Look: Clean lines, fountains, patio cafés, and twinkle lights after dark.
Locations: Blackhawk Plaza (Danville), Annabel Lake (San Ramon).
🍂 Fall Colors
Best for: Those rich autumn palettes (wine, forest, cream, navy) and playful leaf-throwing.
Look: Amber grasses, colorful trees, and winding leafy paths.
Locations: Sycamore Grove (Livermore), Borges Ranch groves (Walnut Creek), Heather Farm (Walnut Creek), Hap Magee (Danville), Sycamore Valley Park (Danville), Oak Hill (Danville) Ravenswood Historic Site (Livermore).
Notes: Fall colors peak late October through mid-November.
